I called on friday. Had to explain the lady that as per press-release, my receipt number should be issued. After 20 minutes of discussions, she escalated my call to another officer. She checked the database with my name, DOB and A# but she could not find any thing related to I-485.

I am sorry to ask this -- if I understand correct, LUD is last update date? What is your LUD, what does it say? Should we have LUD on I140 before anything happens to I485 application?
My I140 has been approved Aug 15, I485 is sent July 24 to TSC and I have no news about I485 yet.

Chandu - I understand where you come from with your vast experience here. Like i mentioned i am totally new to this site and i am not JUST opening a thread. WE are going to do it. If making the 70k talk is joining the chapter, so be it. Nothing stops us.

if you see life as a series of choices and actions, then the lack of GC inhibits a lot of choices and actions.
how badly you wish to change career for example, varies among individuals. but one should not forget that life is finite number of years, and the system here wants to eat all your productive years by dangling the GC carrot.
as sufferers of this ordeal, i believe it is our duty to inform the young and innocent who are not yet in this mess, about the future that awaits them.
mind you i am not discouraging anyone from coming to the US.. that is a decision that must be made by the individual.... just making sure the rules and realities of the game are known to people before they come here.

I can tell you there are roughly 100,000 labor applications filed (50,000 EB3) between Aug 2003 and Dec 2003 for EB India category. The reason was everybody wanted to clear thru regular process before PERM takes over. Those Labors filed after Aug 2003 and before PERM started are moved into backlog and are fully cleary last 4 th quarter. And so 90% of those EB3s may be still there (45,000) hanging. EB2s could have been cleared substantially till Dec 2003. It is all my guess work and not sceintific or factual. also ..this looks very inaccurate ..because I know lot of indians who got H1 during the peak (when h1 was 195k) have gone back. i.e either they got better oppurtunities back home or just went back as they were not getting jobs. I did stay in one of the guest house which had lots of consultants ..none of them are here anymore !!

The President swiftly signed this bill yesterday so that operation of the federal government be not negatively affected nor disrupted. None of immigration-related bills was apparently attached to this bill. When the new Congress returns on January 4, 2007, one of the top agenda will remain pending appropriation bills for various federal departments and agencies, which they should take care of by February 15, 2007. There is a chance that some immigration legislations such as H-1B relief can still be attached to one of these appropriation bills. People may recall that when the Senate-passed S.1932 died not too long past for its failure to pass the House, the H-1B and L-1 Reform Acts were introduced by Rep. Lamar Smith (TX) and the Congress easily passed the bill as a rider to the Omnibus Spending bill! Considering the fact that the business and academic communities can feel urgency more tangibly in the H-1B crisis as an imminent issue affecting their businesses "here and now," as opposed to EB immigrant issue which may be considered a long-term issue, the negative impact of which may be not necessarily imminently visible and tangible as relaed to their businesses "here and now." In this regard, the H-1B legislation can be taken out of the ill-fated SKIL bill and passed earlier than SKIL-type of EB immigration bill or CIR. We will see how things will unfold.

IV members - never lose control or temper - in a public rally. Be careful - remember, in this current scenerio we do not have much sympathy - if any official assualts us - more sympathy will be towards them.
Please do a thorough research on how effective rallies are based on our situation. We do not have much political support - no government support, no public support - and not the least of sympathy though we contribute so much.
In case of unanticipated actions - we may never know if politically we will have any help fro higher ups.
Also - please check the numbers ( remember though a lot of people show enthusiasm in discussion forums, in reality you will find very less people taking part)
So please do your homework and do a lot of discussion. Do not hurry up and rush into rallies. A lot of rallies are done by disciplined leaders who plan these well in advance.
Please do some research.
Once again - it is nice to see the zeal in all the members to do something. Please contribute to IV. Participate in media drive and update information. Help in all posible ways. Please contact core to discuss strategies.

The analysis on the FB movement by simple1, et al is based on the current VB. This will result in severe retrogression in the FB categories. Are you willing to assume the burden that comes with classification in the FB category - separation of family while waiting for PD to be current? Think of what it will do to someone who comes to US on GC through the FB category and later gets married to an Indian citizen. The current wait time for that individual is 5+ years and the individual cannot stay with spouse for a long stretch otherwise he/she loses the GC or does not meet minimum residency requirement for citizenship.

The receipt no. had SRC***** in it and when i looked it up online i saw a note stating " your applicaiton is with our Texas Center". I did send it to NSC on Jul 2.
I understand that. What I wanted to know was what number you have? SRC or LIN? And also to confirm, if it was cashed by TSC? and not the case that it was cashed by NSC and then scheduled to be transfer to TSC?

You're kidding right? No one I know has ever used a body shopper. It is only on forums like these that I hear about people who got H1Bs through a body shopper and are now complaining they don't get paid and wondering if they are in status.

Come on, your comment "limbo for five years" without basis. The FB2 cat is not very far behind. Only 6 months - 1 year behind in most cases. check VB.
